Talk therapy, whether online or in person, provides a supportive space to explore emotions, challenges, and personal growth with a trained therapist. Both formats are effective, with in-person sessions offering face-to-face connection and online therapy providing flexibility and accessibility from anywhere.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy that helps individuals process and heal from distressing memories by using bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements. It is particularly effective for trauma, reducing emotional distress and negative beliefs associated with past experiences.

About Lauren

A woman with long brown hair and blue eyes wearing a plaid shirt, smiling indoors.

Hi, I’m Lauren, a Canadian Certified Counsellor and the founder of Nutbrown Counselling in Kelowna, BC.

I work with adults and adolescents navigating eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and ADHD in Kelowna and virtually across British Columbia. Many of the people I support are thoughtful, capable individuals who feel worn down by intrusive thoughts, food and body image distress, compulsions, perfectionism, or a mind that feels loud and hard to settle.

I understand that these patterns often developed for a reason. Restriction can feel protective. Compulsions can feel relieving. Avoidance can feel safer than risk. My role is not to take those strategies away abruptly, but to help you understand them with compassion while building steadier, more flexible ways of coping.

My training includes CBT-E for eating disorders, exposure and response prevention for OCD, and EMDR for distressing or formative experiences. I offer therapy that is structured when helpful, reflective when needed, and always collaborative. You will know why we are using certain approaches, and we will move at a pace that feels thoughtful and manageable.

If you are nervous about being pushed too quickly or judged for where you are, that makes sense. Therapy here is about building trust, strengthening capacity, and creating meaningful change that feels sustainable in your real life.

At Nutbrown Counselling, you do not have to perform or pretend. You can come as you are, and we will begin there.
